Long-term Opportunities for Job Seekers

Chief Growth & Operations Officer

Head Global

Position Type: Full-time/Contract

Location: Remote (U.S., Eastern or Pacific-adjacent hours)

The short version

Head Global is growing, and we’re in the middle of an exciting pivot, the kind of window you don’t get twice. As we move into adjacent markets, we’re looking for someone to lead the growth strategy of our core markets and ensure our operations grow along with the company. This is a full-time role built around real upside: a solid guaranteed foundation, plus compensation that grows meaningfully with your impact. Full compensation details are below.

About Head Global

Head Global is a small, high-touch talent and career services firm based in Chapel Hill, NC, working with organizations and professionals around the world, many of them working in the social impact space. Over the past decade we’ve completed more than 100,000 hours of consulting, placed over 1,000 professionals into roles where they’ve genuinely thrived, and supported more than 100 organizations across 60+ countries.

We’re not a big search firm with layers of process standing between us and our clients, and we’re not a low-cost staffing marketplace either. We’re strategic, we’re hands-on, and we actually like the people we work with, clients and each other. Above everything else, two questions guide our work ethic: What’s the most honest thing to do here? And can we do it with enough kindness that we’d be proud to explain the decision to our kids? It’s not a bland values statement, but genuinely how we make decisions.

We take our work seriously. We don’t take ourselves too seriously. Somewhere in between those two things is where you’ll find us, and hopefully where we’ll find you!

Why this role exists

Head Global has built a well-run, clearly defined set of services (talent acquisition services, career services, and on-demand consulting) backed by strong client relationships and a decade of steady growth. We’re in the middle of an exciting pivot, the kind of window we intend to make the most of. As we focus on where the business is headed next, we need someone laser focused on growing our existing markets in the international humanitarian development and social impact space, and ensuring our day-to-day operations run smoothly alongside.

This is a senior, trusted, close-to-the-center-of-the-business role. It is not a stepping-stone position, and it’s not a “wear many hats because we’re scrappy” role dressed up to sound important. It’s genuinely broad because the opportunity in front of us is substantial, and because we need someone who can hold real ownership and trust from day one.

What you’ll actually do

  • Own the pipeline. Drive business development and help bring in new client work.

  • Meet with new clients. Serve as a primary point of contact for most potential new client relationships, the kind of relationship where people trust your judgment, not just your follow-through.

  • Run point on execution and quality control. Oversee the quality assurance and control of our core engagements (consulting, recruitment, and career services) from kickoff to close, with a genuinely sharp eye for quality. You’ll be the last set of eyes on proposals, marketing, and many client facing deliverables.

  • Turn relationships into revenue. Actively build and follow up on new client relationships, not just respond to inbound RFPs, this is about creating opportunities, not just executing on the ones that land in your inbox.

  • Read contracts like it’s your job, because it is. You’ll review client and consultant agreements and engagement terms with the kind of detail-orientation that catches the thing everyone else missed.

  • Have real visibility into the financial side of the business. This includes working knowledge of our accounting and financial picture, not bookkeeping minutiae, but a genuine understanding of how the business is doing and what that means for decisions you’re making.

  • Think in terms of “how do we execute this well,” not just “what needs to get done.” This is a big-picture-meets-detail role. You’ll need both.

What you bring

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience, ideally 15+, in business development or operations (ideally both) or a closely related field, enough that you’ve already made the mistakes and learned from them.

  • A track record of managing client relationships, ideally in the international development or social impact space, where trust, not just deliverables, was the currency.

  • A demonstrated track record in business development beyond proposal writing, building relationships and opening doors that turned into real revenue, not just responding to RFPs that happened to land on your desk.

  • Real comfort with financial literacy: reading a P&L, understanding margin, knowing what questions to ask about the numbers.

  • The ability to hold people accountable without holding a title over them. This is a genuinely rare skill and we will ask about it directly in the interview process.

  • A sharp, detail-oriented eye, particularly for contracts and client-facing materials, where small mistakes carry real weight.

  • Familiarity with or genuine interest in the international development and/or social impact space. You don’t need to have spent your entire career in international development, but if you have, we consider that a real asset, not a red flag!

  • A working style that fits a small team: someone who communicates seamlessly and transparently, doesn’t need a lot of process to move fast, and genuinely enjoys the people they work with.

Compensation & structure

Compensation here is built intentionally around upside, not a large fixed number. The headline is substantial performance-based incentive pay tied to company revenue and growth results: this is a role where your compensation is meant to directly track your impact, and strong performance could reasonably bring your total annual compensation well above your guaranteed base, potentially double it or more over time.

Your base compensation range is roughly $60,000 to $96,000 per year, intentionally wide since where you land depends on your experience and the specifics of your incentive structure. The incentive pay layered on top isn't limited to new business you bring in: it's tied to overall company revenue and growth, so you share in a percentage of the profit from our existing, established client base as well as anything new you help build. This isn't a structure where you wait a year for a single payout tied only to what's new, you're incentivized each month on the health of the whole business, not just your own pipeline. We recognize this arrangement is not for everyone, and that's one reason we want to be transparent about it up front.

This is a full-time role. That said, for the right candidate, we're open to somewhat reduced hours (as low as 30/week), particularly if paired with a compensation structure that leans further into incentive upside.

By default, this role is structured as an independent consulting engagement. In specific situations, such as state-level requirements or a candidate's personal financial circumstances, we're open to a traditional salaried structure instead. That would come with a correspondingly lower guaranteed base and lower incentive upside, and any benefits would be limited to whatever is legally required in your state.

This role is fully remote. We don’t care where you live, as long as you can keep hours that overlap comfortably with Eastern and/or Pacific time, where most of our clients and team are based.

Meet (some of) the people you’d be working with

You won't be building this team, you're joining one that already works well together, and we're looking forward to seeing what you add to it. Head Global is Daniel (founder and CEO), Yaniv (Senior Director & Career Services Lead, based in LA), and Kathryn (Senior Director & Talent Acquisition Services Lead, based in NY), plus, soon, you. We text throughout the day, we hold each other accountable, and we’ve built a business where “the way we treat each other spills directly into how we treat our clients.” You can read more about all three of us on our About page.

How to apply

Send your resume and a cover letter to joinourteam@headgloballlc.com with the words “Chief Growth & Operations Officer” in the subject line.

A few things worth knowing about how we handle applications, because we practice what we preach: we won’t run your resume through an ATS, and we don’t use AI anywhere in our interview process. A real person on our team reads every application that comes in, and everyone who applies will hear back from a human, not a form letter generated by a bot, an actual note from us.

One honest note on timing: applying in the first 24 hours will not put you at the front of the line. We’re keeping this role open and reviewing every application that comes in with a genuinely open mind through October 5th. During that window, we’ll be conducting initial phone screens on a rolling basis. From there, our anticipated timeline is:

•           Week of October 5: final screens and first-round formal interviews

•           Week of October 12: second-round interviews

•           Week of October 19 (or sooner): final interviews

•           Before November 1: our hope is to have someone onboarded and getting started

We’ll do our best to keep you posted along the way, even if the answer at any given stage is “still deciding.”
