job profile:

One Acre Fund is looking for a Senior Manager, Business Development to join our Business Development team. You will sit on the Global Business Development team, reporting to the Senior Manager of Global Public Partnerships. As Senior Manager for Business Development, you will spend 50% of your time managing an existing multi-year partnership with a major international donor, based in Rwanda. You will work directly with Rwanda leadership to manage and achieve grant objectives. You will spend the other 50% of your time prospecting and pursuing new Rwanda-based public funding opportunities, in collaboration with the global public funding team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

You will be the lead steward for an existing large, multi-year donor relationship (50%)

  • Be the main liaison to donor. Ensure responsiveness and continuity in communications. Attend all in-country donor meetings physically

  • Coordinate across key stakeholders within the Rwanda country program and the global business development team to achieve grant objectives

  • Ensure narrative and financial reports are completed at high quality, with support from writing team and grants finance team

  • Manage in-country visits from donor

You will originate new funding relationships from in-country public sources (50%)

  • Identify in-country public funding prospects (e.g. USAID, Norad) and develop strategies for pursuing. Identify entry points to donor and partnership prospects through research and contact mapping

  • Build network of in-country public donor and partner contacts through attending events, speaking on panels, and joining meetings with program staff (e.g. with government team, senior leadership, and other externally-facing teams)

  • Collaborate with in-country senior program leadership, leveraging their technical knowledge and network to build donor relationships and advance funding opportunities 

Required Qualifications:

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you are encouraged to apply if you:

  • Have 10+ years  experience in international business and grants management, with experience in USAID grants management preferred.

  • Have experience in the administration of large, complex USAID-funded grants of over $7M that involve sub-awardees, required.

  • Proven knowledge and understanding of rules and regulations of public donors, and ability to advise the most suitable grant mechanisms/instruments.

  • Have excellent organizational skills with a willingness to take initiative and be proactive in your role.

  • Have excellent communications, facilitation, and negotiation skills

  • Have a high level of English fluency. An additional European language (French, German) is ideal.

  • Ability to travel for in-person donor meetings or networking opportunities, roughly 30% of the time.
